So, why invest in a photographer at all?
Because you deserve it!
This is your wedding day after all, and your love story deserves to be told. You can have photos to share with friends and family back home, and to relive your adventure again and again.
But here is the important part…
If you don’t love being photographed, make sure you find a DOCUMENTARY STYLE photographer, who will make sure to eliminate those awkward poses, and make this day feel natural and fun. Look for someone who specializes in candid, organic photos that feel like they capture the emotions of the day.

Choosing your
perfect location
Colorado has a wide diversity of regions, climates and ecosystems. Pick one that feels like you!
Mountains
For the rugged adventurer, this is the perfect state to explore the beautiful Rocky Mountains. With over 3/4 of our state covered in Mountains, there is no bad view or adventure here. Check out Rocky Mountain National Park for some world class mountain views.
Valleys
Between these beautiful mountains are some of the most incredible valleys in the country. If you are looking for wildflowers, alpine glow and the sweet sounds of crickets to compliment your elopement day, Colorado is the place for you.
Waterfalls
For you water lovers, there are plenty of rivers, waterfalls and lakes to explore in this beautiful state. Deep in Rocky Mountain National Park you can find some secluded spots that are perfect for adventurous elopements.
High Alpine Lakes
The most beautiful lakes in Colorado are often found at the base of our mountains. Turquoise water reflects large peaks in a serene and dramatic landscape, the perfect backdrop for wedding vows.
Desert
Visit The Great Sand Dunes, or adventure into the western slope’s desert for red rock backgrounds, canyons, and vast dunes.

When to elope
in Colorado
The best time to elope in Colorado
Because picking the right season matters!
Although there is no bad time to visit Colorado, it is worth noting that the seasons in Colorado vary dramatically, and just because it’s summer, doesn’t mean there isn’t snow around! Focus your elopement on what you’d like to surround yourself, and pick the season that offers that:
Summer: Perfect for high mountain weddings in wildflowers, warm weather, and flowing waterfalls.
Fall: Beautiful aspen leaves, gorgeous fall valleys, and cooler temperatures in the mountains.
Winter: Great for couples who love snow, and want to adventure into the mountains on skiis or snowshoes, with s’mores and hot tubs afterwards!
Spring: A beautiful and often rainy time, great to get married in the desert or in the Great Sand Dunes.

So, how do I get a permit to elope?
Some areas require them, some don’t. Hire an elopement planner like me to make sure your paperwork is taken care of!
Permits make sure we are taking care of the natural land and fragile environments of Colorado, and eloping in an non-impactful way. Some areas require that you buy a special elopement permit, while some areas are free of charge. Check with your local Colorado elopement expert + photographer for more information.
Other FUN things:
In Colorado, you don’t need witnesses for your marriage and can self-solemnize without an officiant!
Your dog can OFFICIALLY sign your marriage license as a witness
Getting your license in Colorado is easy, and cheap! The fee is $30, and the permit can be applied for and picked up at the county clerks office, M-F. Apply for your license before your elopement, as the license expires after 35 days, so make sure to plan accordingly.
To apply, you will need:
Driver’s license or passport
Your social security number
$30 for the fee (all forms of payment accepted)
